Steel-Stringed Acoustic Guitars

Naugler Guitars is located in the hills of southeastern Pennsylvania in the northwest corner of historic Bucks County in the old hamlet of Finland and is operated by me, Seth Naugler. I build guitars using mostly traditional methods in a wonderful old barn with a very modern shop.

I encourage people to stop by and visit me and my shop firsthand if possible. Researching and buying a custom instrument is ideally a hands-on experience for the player. One of the biggest joys of having an instrument built for you is that you can be involved in the process and pick and choose every component that goes into your guitar producing an instrument without compromise.

I've put a lot of energy into learning this craft and it's really gratifying to share that knowledge with other guitarists. Even extremely experienced and capable guitarists are often unschooled in the "mechanics" of guitars and the physics behind them. Guitarists may have heard a lot of opinions over the years but are still unsure what difference there is between different wood types or components. In many cases I can actually show the difference between two things, like an Engelmann and Sitka spruce top, for example.

If you're like most guitarists, there's a good chance you've never played a guitar that's really well set up. There are a lot of tiny adjustments luthiers can make to affect the feel of an instrument; a few thousandths here and there can have a big impact on playability. Most of my customers are surprised at what a difference this makes.

Kamp Guitar Blog

I'm building another guitar for Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp Dreadnoughts Unlimited Scholarship fund and it's well underway. This year's guitar is one of my Orchestra Models. I'm using Brazilian rosewood for the back and sides and the top is Adirondack Red Spruce. This will be a very traditional, non-cutaway model. More information can be found on the blog I created in 2008 for the first Dreadnoughts Unlimited guitar. The blog followed the guitar's contruction and can be found here.
